Khi thi công các hệ thống tự động hóa công nghiệp thì chắc chắn chúng ta sẽ dùng nhiều thiết bị chấp hành và kết nối chúng bằng các loại cáp điều khiển

AWG – American Wire Gauge (American scale unit for wire cross section: Chỉ số chỉ cỡ dây dẫn theo tiêu chuẩn Mỹ
Shielded Cable: Cáp có vỏ bọc
UnShielded : Cáp trần (không có vỏ bọc giáp)
Shielded Data Cable:
TP-Twisted Pair: Xoắn đôi
Foil shielding (ký hiệu là F): lá chắn thép/nhôm
Braided Shielding (ký hiệu là S): lưới che chắn thường làm bằng đồng bện. Lớp vỏ này có tác dụng chống EMI từ ngoài, chống phát xạ nhiễu bên trong và được nối đất để thoát nhiễu. Cáp đôi xoắn có bọc ít bị tác động bởi nhiễu điện và có khả năng truyền qua khoảng cách xa cao hơn cáp đôi xoắn trần.
STP-Shielded Twisted Pair: Cáp xoắn đôi được che chắn bởi vỏ chống nhiễu được gọi là cáp xoắn được bảo vệ (STP).
UTP – Unshielded Twisted Pair: Cáp xoắn đôi không được che chắn bởi vỏ chống nhiễu. Như vậy cáp (UTP) sẽ là cáp để trần, không được bảo vệ.
